Dr. Eng. Herman Tolle, ST., MT. is the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) and a lecturer in the Informatics Engineering Study Program. He earned his Doctorate (Dr. Eng.) in Information Science from Saga University, Japan. He earned his Master of Engineering (MT) in Electrical Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and his Bachelor of Engineering (ST) from Universitas Brawijaya.
His primary areas of expertise are Information Retrieval, Augmented & Virtual Reality, Mobile Application Development, and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). His research includes the development of computer vision-based systems, mobile social geotagging, e-learning, smart environments, and assistive technology.
Over the past five years, Dr. Herman has actively led various leading research projects, including the development of a head movement-based electric wheelchair control system (HEMOCS), a mobile geotagging-based disaster response application, and a virtual reality-based Malang Virtual Tourism project. He is also involved in developing applications for the education sector, preserving historic buildings, and inclusive technology for people with disabilities.
Dr. Herman actively writes reputable international scientific publications. Several of his research awards have been awarded, including the 2016 ICACSIS Best Paper Award and the Outstanding Lecturer Award from Universitas Brawijaya. In addition to research, he has also written books, obtained copyrights (IPR) for technological innovations, and spoken at international conferences in the United States, Singapore, and Indonesia. Dedicated to technological innovation, education, and community service, Dr. Herman Tolle continues to foster academic collaboration and tangible contributions to the development of digital technology and an intelligent society.
