Prof. Romeo Marian

Dr. Romeo Marian is an Associate Professor of Engineering at the University of South Australia (UniSA), Adelaide. He holds a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from UniSA, an MSc in Energy Management and Mechanical Engineering from a consortium of European universities under the EU TEMPUS program, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
With more than 30 years of combined academic and industrial experience, Dr. Marian has led major initiatives in mechanical and mechatronics engineering, curriculum development, and international teaching in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. At UniSA, he served for over 13 years as Program Director and Discipline Leader for Mechanical Engineering, and played a key role as Academic Lead for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) implementation with industry partners Dassault Systèmes and Siemens.
An accomplished researcher at UniSA’s Industrial AI Research Centre, Dr. Marian has authored over 160 peer-reviewed publications, secured five patents, and attracted more than AUD 7 million in competitive research funding. His work applies artificial intelligence, evolutionary algorithms, and intelligent scheduling to solve complex engineering problems, while his recent research explores the impact of generative AI on education. He is also a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust), and a member of the General Association of Engineers Romania (AGIR)
